Thanks for visiting my site. The purpose of this site is to serve as my web portfolio. On tobkat.com, you'll find my web designs, contact information, and information about myself. The websites in this portfolio reflect work that I designed and developed or provided freelance development on, the content of which is owned by the respective clients.

DESIGN

As a web designer, my goal is to create web standards-based sites that are clean, easy to navigate, and appealing. Designing by standards ensures cross-browser compatibility and search engine readability. My intention is to create designs that are professional and customized to fit the client's needs. I focus strongly on the following three elements:

• Web Standards
  • Sites are built to meet current web standards which increases accessibility and long-term viability, providing a better experience for the visitor. The goal is to have every site built by me W3C compliant, both html and css.
• Accessibility
  • An accessible site reaches more viewers on a wider range of electronic devices as well as providing higher search engine rankings. All sites created are checked and validated according to Section508 accessibility standards.
• Quality
  • Each site is hand-coded to ensure a clean, simple structure resulting in reduced file sizes for quicker load time and easier maintenance.

DEVELOPMENT

As a developer, I want to deliver easy-to-use systems that give clients control over their content and data. Taking advantage of current technologies, I develop sites with the goal of giving both the client and their audience an enjoyable and easily accessible experience.

I specialize in XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript front-end web development. In addition to being well versed in standards-based markup practices, I have experience with several major JavaScript libraries. I also offer content management system integration, for easy site maintenance.

In addition to front-end web development, I also offer development in Flash, PHP, and ASP.
